By Dongguan Yusen Industrial Co., Ltd.—a Dongguan factory specializing in custom drawcords, shoelaces & trims. (Also called “draw cords” in some markets; this guide uses the standard term drawcords.)
Why Branding on Drawcords Matters
Drawcords sit at eye level on hoodies, joggers, gym bags, and even footwear. A well-executed logo turns a simple string into a mini billboard—better shelf appeal, premium unboxing, and more shareable close-ups.
Goals we hear from brands:
- Distinctive look that fits seasonal palettes
- Functional grip for sportswear users
- Wash-proof, rub-resistant branding for long wear

The Three Core Methods
1) Jacquard-in Logos (Woven During Braiding)
What it is: Your logo/wordmark is woven into the drawcord’s outer sheath as we braid.
Pros
- Premium look—logo becomes part of the structure
- Excellent wash/rub fastness; nothing to peel or crack
- Great for repeating monograms or geometric motifs
Watch-outs
- Keep minimum stroke ≥ 1.0–1.2 mm on the cord surface
- Best readability on round 4–6 mm or flat 6–8 mm drawcords
- Typically 2–3 colors visible in the sheath at once
Best for: lifestyle hoodies, premium capsules, brand signatures.

2) Printing on Drawcords (Screen / Heat-Transfer / Digital)
What it is: Applying ink or film onto the finished drawcord.
Pros
- Sharp micro text and icons
- Flexible Pantone matching, quick strike-offs
- Cost-effective at mid/large volumes
Watch-outs
- Match inks/films to polyester/nylon/cotton base; run rub/sweat tests
- On round cords, very tiny text may curve—keep x-height ≥ 1.5 mm
- In high-wear zones near tips, combine with proper tipping protection
Variants
- Screen print: bold, opaque, ideal for repeats
- Heat-transfer film: crisp edges, smooth hand
- Digital print: gradients/patterns—validate color fastness early
Best for: teamwear, promos, seasonal graphics.

3) Silicone Grip Printing
What it is: Raised silicone dots/lines or a 3D logo applied to the cord surface.
Pros
- Anti-slip tactile feel—perfect for training/outdoor styles
- 3D effect adds depth and premium perception
- Durable when cured correctly
Watch-outs
- Avoid large solid blocks on very small diameters
- Requires proper cure & wash tests; low-grade gels can smear
- Heavier coverage slightly stiffens hand-feel
Best for: performance hoodies/joggers, athleisure, bag pulls.

Quick Selector: Which Method Should You Use?
| Objective | Choose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Woven-in premium identity | Jacquard | Highest perceived value; 2–3 visible colors |
| Micro text / crisp icons | Screen or Heat-Transfer | Strong Pantone control |
| Anti-slip + texture | Silicone Grip | Place where fingers pinch |
| All-over patterns | Jacquard or Digital Print | Balance repeat vs. circumference |
| Budget-friendly volume | Screen Print | Efficient for repeats |
Artwork Prep & Specs (Don’t Skip These)
- Formats: AI/PDF/SVG vectors; outline all text.
- Strokes & spacing:
- Jacquard strokes ≥ 1.0–1.2 mm
- Printed x-height on round cords ≥ 1.5 mm
- Repeat pitch: Tell us logo spacing (e.g., every 30–40 mm).
- Color: Pantone Solid Coated/TPG. We issue lab dips and print strike-offs before mass production.
Typical MOQs
- Jacquard drawcords: 1,500–3,000 pcs / color / spec
- Screen/transfer prints: 1,000–2,000 pcs
- Silicone grip: 1,000–2,000 pcs (coverage-dependent)
Cost-down tip: Share the same base color across sizes to combine quantities.
Durability & Test Plan
We include photos and readings in your approval pack. Common checks:
- Rubbing fastness (dry/wet)—logo legibility after cycles
- Wash fastness—color hold after 40 °C washing
- Sweat test—ink/film resistance to perspiration
- Aglet pull & adhesion—no cracking near the tip
- Abrasion—cycles to fray on textured surfaces
Materials can be sourced with REACH / OEKO-TEX inputs on request.
Design Tips That Make Branding Pop
- Contrast first: light logo on dark cord, or the opposite.
- Use tracers: a thin color tracer aligned with brand color unifies the garment.
- Functional placement: put silicone dots where fingers pinch and pull.
- Own the tip: pair with laser-engraved metal or colored paper aglets as a micro “name card.”

Cost & Lead Time (Transparent View)
What drives price: yarn (poly/nylon/cotton/rPET), braid width/density, branding method, coverage, aglet type, and quantity.
Sampling: 48–72 hours dispatch for prints; jacquard sampling may need an extra setup run.
Regular lead time: 7–15 days after approval, depending on spec & volume.
Packing: coil/bundle/bag or retail sets with barcodes/carton marks.
Use Cases
- Performance hoodies & joggers: silicone dots/lines + concise screen logo
- Lifestyle capsules: jacquard monograms + brushed metal aglets
- Footwear cords: precise micro text prints on waxed or flat cords
- Bags & accessories: bold repeats or contrast jacquard on rope handles
FAQs
Q1: Will the logo fade after washing?
With the right ink/film and cure, prints hold up well; jacquard logos are structural and offer the best long-term stability. We include rub/sweat/wash tests in pilot runs.
Q2: Can you match our Pantone?
Yes—lab dips and strike-offs before production. We retain swatches for consistent repeats.
Q3: What diameters read best?
Round 4–6 mm or flat 6–8 mm drawcords give the best readability. Very fine text is easier on flat cords.
Q4: Do you offer sustainable options?
Yes—rPET yarns, paper aglets, recyclable packing, and consolidated shipments.
